Once your Luminology soy candle has completely burned, you may purchase a soy candle refill (at studio location only) or reuse the porcelain pot as a serving dish or decorative container throughout your home. With proper care your porcelain pot will grace your home for a lifetime!
How to clean out your empty candle.
Before refilling or repurposing your candle, you’ll need to remove the metal wick tab and any remaining soy wax residue. Scrape underneath the wick tab with a blunt kitchen utensil to dislodge glue dot from the inside bottom of vessel. Discard wick tab. Wash inside of pot with warm soapy water to remove any remaining glue or soy wax residue. Once dry, your candle is ready for refilling or repurposing!
Safe for food, easy to care for.
Luminology’s heirloom porcelain vessles are perfectly suited for use as serving pieces. They are glazed with certified food safe and lead free glazes. We recommend hand washing to best preserve the porcelain. Avoid prolonged soaking in water since the exterior is unglazed. To easily remove stains or discoloration from the unglazed surface area, wash gently with baking soda and warm water.
Your repurposed vessel can be used in the oven and microwave but take caution when removing, as porcelain retains heat and becomes quite hot when exposed to high temperatures. It is not recommended to place the porcelain on a hot plate as the bottom can discolor.
Our vessles are handcrafted from high-quality porcelain. There may be some slight variation in color, texture, and finish due to their hand made nature.
A note from Pigeon Toe , one of the porcelain studios who makes Luminology’s vessles:
“We source all of our clay locally and are dedicated to a waste-free studio. We recycle all of our scraps and use only non-toxic glazes. Firings are done only when there is a full load, which can slow down production time but saves an immesuarable amount of energy. Our studio assistants and collaborative artists are paid a fair percentage of every item they make, and we aspire to pay them more as they help our company grow.”
